A Los Angeles based sex-positive therapist, Moushumi Ghose, and some friends travel to different locations to explore sexual attitudes and practices in different regions around the world.
Season 1: The Wild West, USA
Episode 1: Sex in the Wild West - Nevada, USA
On the fringes, and outskirts of America, in some of the most rural, and final frontiers of the Wild West, sexuality exists in what feels like a quiet exile.
Prostitution is legal here in rural Nevada, however the stigma around prostitution limits the women's autonomy, and perpetuates shame and guilt around sex for both men and women. Brothels are currently illegal and prostitution outside these licensed brothels is also illegal in the United States. Society vilifies men and objectifies women in the prostitution business, yet it is said to be the “oldest profession in the world.”
In Episode 1, this film journeys first to the legal sex worker industry in Nevada, USA to talk to women who work in the legal business of sex work.
Episode 2: Religion in the Wild West - Colorado City, Arizona, Home to A Secret Polygamist Group of the Mormon Church, Salt Lake City, New York City
Episode 2, The crew visit the bordertowns of Arizona and Utah where fundamental religious zealots, such as the excommunicated Mormon polygamists communities, exist from society, isolated, while perpetuating what appears to be an exploitive sex cult.
Episode 3: Marriage in the Wild West - Los Angeles, CA, and New York, NY, USA
Episode 3, journey through the desert from Salt Lake City back to California where Prop 8 was passed to ban same sex marriage in 2008, an act initiated largely by the Mormon church. Visit New York City, home of Stonewall, and meet with some experts on same sex marriage, monogamy, and true unchartered sexual freedom that the LGBTQ community saw in the 70's before the AIDS crisis.
